In 2004 I wrote the texts of the only official book on the Starfighter published by the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force, ItAF) to celebrate the retirement of the World famous aircraft, titled “F-104 – Storia di un Mito”. During the design phase I had the possibility to browse the enormous archive of the CPA in order to chose the pictures to be used in the book. In this page you can find some interesting pictures of the F-104 Starfighter taken by the “Troupe Azzurra” during the whole service life of the Spillone (as the aircraft was dubbed by the Italian pilots) until 2004. Even if this page contains hundreds pictures, they represent only a small part of the thousands that can be found in the CPA historical archive.
All pictures in this page courtesy Aeronautica Militare – “Troupe Azzurra”.
When are you going to post the other 2,000+ pictures :)
