  1. Question: As drones become more and more popular and effective as a means of force project, why is there not an attendant rise in the number of SAMs be used against them? Are drones somehow less vulnerable to SAMs than a manned aircraft?

    • the drones fly very slowly, are small, and dont cost too much (pilot training cost a lot) drones are thorically more vulnerable to SAMs, although for the drones operators, it not big deal if they lost them, it’s just robots, and the risk is acceptable, actually all the drones operates in countries with poor air defence capacities or allowed to fly in these contries airspace (afganistan, pakistan, yemen, lebanon) , using a SAM to hit a small drone is not very effective specially when the drone is flying low, a AA battery can do the job or some cheab SAM-7 or equivalent

Sorry, but your basic premise presented in “Here’s why North Korea’s attack plan on U.S. is a joke” is fundementally flawed: Great circles CAN be shown as straight lines – it all depends on what map projection is used. The Gmomonic projection (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnomonic_projection) is one that does just that.
