Watch A German Eurofighter Fly Ultra Low Level In Australia In This Stunning 360-degree Video

The German Air Force released an amazing 360-degree footage of a Eurofighter flying over the Northern Territory.

The German Air Force has deployed six Eurofighters, four A400M and three A330 MRTT aircraft and 250 service members to Australia as part of Operation Rapid Pacific 2022 deployment. “Rapid Pacific is the largest and most challenging deployment the German Air Force has ever seen,” said the Chief of the German Air Force, Lieutenant General Ingo Gerhartz, emphasizing the special significance of the project.

The German Eurofighters, assigned to the Taktisches Luftwaffengeschwader 74 at Neuburg / Donau airbase, took part in Exercise Pitch Black 22, flying both in the air-to-air and air-to-ground role, and integrating with assets of the other participating nations, and then in Kakadu 22, a multinational naval exercise, during which they had the role of protecting the participating warships from the air in DCA (Defensive Counter Air) missions.

Interestingly, during their deployment to Darwin, the German Eurofighters also had the chance to perform flying activity over the Northern Territory and off the coast of Darwin. Australia offers lots of huge unpopulated areas which perfect for some ultra low level.

Take a look at the video below. It’s a 360-clip filmed in the cockpit of the “Air Ambassador”, the Eurofighter sporting a special livery that features flags of the countries that GAF will during its Indo-Pacific deployment (Singapore, Australia, South Korea and Japan), maneuvering at low altitude and high speed through canyons and close to the ridges of the outback.

Some of the details (like the information on the kneepad and some data in the Head Up Display) have been blurred but you can get a really good idea about what it looks like to fly at 250 feet and 470 knots in a combat aircraft.

BTW, although you won’t be able to see all the numbers and symbols, here’a sort of primer to the Eurofighter Typhoon’s HUD symbology:

A big H/T to Dennis Giesecke for the heads-up!
