A new Lamborghini commercial features the Italian F-35A stealth jet.

Lamborghini is an Italian brand and manufacturer based founded in 1963 and based Sant’Agata Bolognese, Italy. Owned by the Volkswagen Group through its subsidiary Audi, Lamborghini is a synonym for luxury sports cars.

Among the models produced by Lamborghini Aventador is a series of mid-engine sports car produced by the Italian automotive manufacturer from 2011. The latest “variant” in the Aventador lineage, Aventador SVJ was first unveiled in 2018. With a 6.5-litre L539 V12 engine used able of maximum power output of 770 PS (566 kW; 759 hp) at 8,500 rpm can accelerate from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 2.8 seconds and 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) in 8.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of over 349 km/h (217 mph).

“Aventador SVJ’s DNA derives directly from aeronautics, blending creativity and technology in each and every part,” Lamborghini says. “Specifically, the inspiration was drawn from the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning.”

The engine cover, depicting an imposing Y from which you can get a glimpse of the engine, recalls the top view of the fighter aircraft. The high mounted exhaust, which makes room for the large rear diffusor, takes inspiration from the jet engine and turbines. The lateral air intakes, embellished by the Italian flag on the side, have a functional design and are larger compared to the previous model. They improve engine cooling, and recall the silhouette of the jet. This is also replicated on the hexagonal front of the car, which integrates the three-dimensional air intakes that guide the airflow through the front hood, interacting with the ALA system. In addition to giving the front a more aggressive look, the aerodynamic fins extend towards the wheel arch to improve the lateral airflows in order to maximize efficiency.

To mark these ties, the new Aventador SVJ’s commercial, released on Feb. 27, 2019, features the F-35A Lightning II.

The commercial shows the Aventador inside the F-35 shelters and on the runway at Amendola Air Base, home of the 32° Stormo (Wing) of the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force), the first European airbase to host the 5th generation fighter. The clip shows a stealth jet of the 13° Gruppo (Squadron), that was declared operational on Nov. 30, 2018, when the unit officially achieved IOC (Initial Operational Capability) with the Lightning II aircraft.

Although some of the scenes are computer generated, the commercial is pretty cool as it shows which parts of the car where inspired by the most advanced combat aircraft currently in service.

Enjoy.
