Departures from Circus Maximus (in bad weather)

Below, the pictures of the departures from the static display at the Circus Maximus for the Armed Forces Day, taken on Nov. 10, 2010, by Giovanni Maduli.

Circus Maximus exhibition (for the Armed Forces Day 2010)

The Italian Armed Forces celebrated the 92nd Anniversary since the end of WWI and the Armed Forces Day with the traditional exhibition in the Circus Maximus (Circo Massimo) in Rome with weapons systems and equipment belonging to the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force), Marina Militare (Italian Navy) and Guardia Costiera (Coast Guard), Esercito Italiano (Italian Army), Guardia di Finanza (Custom Police) and Carabinieri (Military Police). Here are the pictures I and Giovanni Maduli took on Nov. 7, at the exhibition.

Italian Armed Forces Day arrivals

As happend in 2008 and 2009, Circus Maximus (Circo Massimo) in Rome will host an exhibition with equipment belonging to the Aeronautica Militare (Italian Air Force), Marina Militare (Italian Navy) and Guardia Costiera (Coast Guard), Esercito Italiano (Italian Army), Guardia di Finanza (Custom Police) and Carabinieri (Military Police) as part of the celebrations for the traditional Italian Armed Forces Day (Nov. 4th). On Oct. 28, the first helicopters landed in the Circus Maximus and Giovanni Maduli was there to take the following pictures of the arrivals.

Frosinone Open Day – 28.05.10

An airshow was held in Frosinone on May 28, 2010, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the ItAF helicopter school. For more information about the 72° Stormo, read the article I wrote for the June 2006 issue of Air Forces Monthly here. The airshow, that was attended by a few interesting visitors from the Armed Forces and Air Corps whose crews are trained at the Frosinone school, was also the season premiere for the Frecce Tricolori display team (as the usual May 1 display at Rivolto was not open to the public this year, since the team will celebrate there the 50th Anniversary on Sept. 11 and 12, 2010). A mini-special colour on the NH-500E MM81311/”72-48″ was also exhibited. Giovanni Maduli took the following interesting pictures.

Armed Forces Day: departures from downtown Rome

The following images, showing the departure of the helicopters attending the exhibition in Rome for the Armed Forces Day celebration, were taken by Giovanni Maduli on Nov. 11, 2009. All but the EH-101 of the Marina Militare (Italian Navy, ItNy), that experienced a failure, and the A109 of the Guardia di Finanza, that returned to its homebase via ground transportation, took off from the Circus Maximus; the ruins of Ancient Rome on the Palatine Hill provided a striking background to the pictures.
